Macbook Air Feature Comparison Table

I was stunned and astounded when I first laid on eyes on the Macbook Air. You have to admire Apple’s bold, forward thinking. There’s been a lot of debate in our office about the fact that it doesn’t have this and it doesn’t have that. Of course the Apple Fanboys are chanting Apples’ mantras – “it’s built for the wireless world” etc. Personally I think if you need mobile computing it’s great, want a desktop replacement? Go Pro. Adding a Google Sitemap cannot hurt your rankings – it’s official

To give Google a Sitemap or to not give Google a sitemap? That is the question. For a longtime there’s been a lot of hear say flying around about the potential damage Sitemaps can do to your websites rankings. Damage reported by webmasters include pages going supplemental and rankings dropping. Continue reading Adding a Google Sitemap cannot hurt your rankings – it’s official

Use the noscript tag to hide links from visitors and Rank number 1 in Google

Google has been going crazy with FUD about paid links, slapping some high profile sites and networks along the way. Matt Cutts recently posted about finding cloaked websites. Well Google great job at finding spammers, NOT!

I regularly reverse engineer peoples SEO. You have to admit it’s fun to tear apart someones linking strategy and then copy it analyse it. I pay particular interest to inbound links to sites for obvious reasons. I’m pretty sick of seeing inbound links appearing in noscript blocks that do not appear on the page (and I’m trying real hard not to out a couple a few examples). Especially as they seem to carry some weight and are passing on link juice. Using noscript for SEO is nothing new, it’s been used for yonks to to make spider readable content not appear to users .

So come on Google get wise to it. How hard can it be? All you have to do is discount a link if it doesn’t appear in the body of the page but does appear in the noscript block. Google should be concentrating less on FUD and Webmaster PR and more on solving problems with intelligent solutions.

Vegas Baby!

Time to start packing.  Next week I’m attending Webmaster World Pubcon in Las Vegas.  I’m really looking forward to the event.  And although I’m not into gambling I’m really looking forward to experiencing Vegas.  There are some great sessions planned, but as always the bar is the best place, and thats not just because of the beer!  It’s great to hang out with like minded people and share ideas and swap stories.  I’m looking forward to hooking up with some old friends and making lots of new ones.

I’ll be stopping at the Wynn which looks pretty amazing.  I’m also hoping to get out to see the Grand Canyon (check out this crazy walkway) and Hoover dam, we’ll see if there’s time.  It’s going to be a very tiring but exciting week.  Bring it on!

Stairs are dangerous

Been a bit quiet on here the last week or so. Typing has been an absolute bitch, a one handed bitch to be precise. Just over a week ago I fractured my wrist, and yes it did and still does hurt. How did I do it? Nothing glamorous, I fell down the stairs! What a clutz. My cast or “pot” as people up north seem to call it will be on for another week. Then it’s back to hospital for more X-Rays…
